Holiday Pendants

As the holiday season quickly consumes us in American culture, I turn my thoughts to holiday pendants that have special significance. The market is saturated with pendants that are snowmen and angels, Santas and snowflakes, but the holiday pendants that stand out the most are those that are personalized and unique.

This holiday season I am wearing my cross glass pendant filled with Holy water from the Jordan River and adorned with an etched sterling silver plate decoration and a blue crystal. This holiday pendant surpasses the glitter and glam of marketing strategies and instead personalizes my jewelry with the more universal values of this holiday season. With its delicate sterling silver chain and the white hue of the glass and water, the pendant is soft and serene like a new blanket of snow. As the holiday rush encroaches, I want to be reminded of the things that really matter: peace of mind, peace in the world, quality time with family and friends, and the essence of giving generously.

The cross, a Christian symbol of Christ’s gift to the world, reminds me that gifts do not need to be expensive or a chore to give, but rather that gift-giving is about giving of oneself.

The Power of Kabbalah Pendants

Kabbalah glass pendant filled with holy water

I am still thinking about Kabbalah jewelry and the idea of having Kabbalah pendants close to the heart. The blending of energies is quite powerful: the feelings in your heart combined with the beliefs you hold dear affect the Kabbalah pendant on your necklace; the symbolic meaning of the kabbalah pendant is absorbed through your skin and into your body, mind, and soul. One does truly affect the other.

Wearing a Kabbalah bracelet is a deliberate expression of positive intent. This positive energy serves to strengthen the symbolism of the Kabbalah pendant. Likewise, the meaning of your Kabbalah pendant penetrates deep into your psyche and touches your soul which serves to strengthen your positive intentions in this world.

Wearing a Kabbalah pendant is like speaking aloud personal affirmations because you embrace the name of God and call on specific qualities of God to bless you as you adorn your body with a Kabbalah pendant with specific meaning. When you wear a Kabbalah pendant you take the affirmations of your heart and put them out for all the world to see.

It may not seem like much, but it is. This is how it works in the spiritual realm. This is what it is to connect with the powers of the universe, align yourself with the powers and claim your own destiny.

Yes, the simple act of wearing a Kabbalah pendant can do all of this because the symbolism is deeply rooted in the energies of spirit.

The more I think about Kabbalah pendants and the message of the symbols, the more I realize that having a Kabbalah pendant placed around my neck where it falls strategically between the thinking mind and the feeling heart is a very centering act.

Kabbalah Pendants

Some people think that because Kabbalah stems from Jewish traditions, Kabbalah pendants are solely Jewish jewelry. However, you do not have to be Jewish to appreciate and enjoy Kabbalah pendants. Kabbalah embraces people from all religious backgrounds and faiths because it is an esoteric offshoot of Judaism and has been studied by non-Jews for many centuries. Kabbalah is shrouded in mysticism. It includes mystical and magical practices as well as devotional and meditative practices. For this reason, many people who have rejected formal and institutionalized religion often find peace and comfort in Kabbalah.

Therefore, we can say that Kabbalah pendants offer people of all faiths and religious convictions a way to express their spiritual beliefs in their jewelry and fashion accessories. Kabbalah pendants include the many symbols of the Kabbalah tradition such as the ALD (known as the evil eye) and the Hamasa. With 72 names for God in Kabbalah teachings, there are many variations of Kabbalah pendants allowing you to collect Kabbalah jewelry in a variety of colors and styles.

The most important thing about Kabbalah pendants is the fact that you can creatively and artistically express your spiritual self in classy, elegant, and beautiful pendants.

Kabbalah ALD Pendants

The Kabbalah ALD pendant is an artistically designed, beautiful image of God. It mirrors the eye as we know it in the mortal world, but is meant to represent the eye of God. The meaning of the Kabbalah ALD pendant is that the eye of God is all-seeing. As God is omnipotent, meaning all authority and power, we know that God is also able to see all things and know all things. This means that God can see even those things that humans cannot see or know. The eye of God is protective as it sees the dangers that prowl around our space when we are oblivious.

According to Kabbalah, there are 72 names for God. ALD is the name often interpreted by Western languages to mean the “evil eye”. The idea of the evil eye is that it provides protection to the person who calls on it by starring down evil and sending it away. While this concept works for me, the term “evil eye” does not. You see, the term “evil eye” implies that the eye in your pendant has an evil energy, but the Kabbalah word, ALD, means that the power of god, presented in the symbol of an eye, is so great that all evil will recoil from its presence.

Therefore, the Kabbalah ALD pendant is not best described as being an “evil eye”, but rather the protective eye of god that sees evil long before we do and by its power, can penetrate and diffuse that evil so that we may never know of its potential danger to us.

Wear a Kabbalah ALD pendant close to your heart so that you can be more consciously aware of God’s protective spirit in all you do. Furthermore, enjoy the beauty of the eye image, its rounded shape, clear colors, and spiritual essence.

Messages in Pendants

I am noticing the jewelry that people wear on the university campus these days. There seems to be two kinds of necklaces: 1) chunky and decorative; and 2) smaller pendants with significance. The decorative necklaces are more commonly worn by faculty – older women. They are colorful, long, and often consist of several strands. They accentuate the clothing and tend to be complimented with matching earrings. The pendant necklaces on the other hand, though also worn by faculty women, are much more common among the younger women – the students. Smaller pendants hang on shorter and more delicate chains while larger pendants hang on longer chains or leather cords.

What I find most interesting about these pendant necklaces is the symbolism of the pendants. I wonder if these pendants are chosen because the wearer simply likes the design, or if she values the actual meaning of the pendant. No doubt it is a bit of both. But the other day I overheard two girls talking in the hall and one asked the other, “Are you a believer?” When she replied “yes”, the first one said, “well, I noticed your necklace, so I thought so”. She was wearing a small gold chain with a cross pendant hanging around her neck. This conversation pleased me because I know that although most people may not voice their opinions or ask the questions that probe in their minds, the jewelry we wear does in fact give a message and people do notice. Hearing this exchange between two students on campus confirmed this belief for me.

So what pendant are you wearing today? And what message do you intend to put out into the world with your jewelry?

Star Pendant

The star pendant really represents a celestial connection – a symbol of the heavens, touching your skin, drawing your psychic energy heavenward. These days however, a star pendant also represents the proverbial 15 minutes of fame Andy Worhol predicted we would all encounter. Many people associate the star pendant with Hollywood style stardom. Star pendants adorn everything from little girls’ princess jewelry to tough guys’ bling-bling accessories.

When choosing your own jewelry, consider what you aim to express and infuse that meaning into its symbolism. In the case of the star pendant for example, whatever intention the original designer had, you can actually direct its meaning by touching it with your hands and speaking the affirmation of your own intended meaning into its presence. Then, as you wear your star pendant around your neck and feel its weight against your breast bone, you will be reminded of its symbolism and its significance in your own personal life.

Healing Pendant

A healing pendant is one that sets your mind and heart on the intention of healing. This conscious awareness is the beginning of healing. A healing pendant is also beautiful because the beauty of the pendant plays a role in attracting healing energies. One of the most powerful healing pendants is one that is connected in some way with water. Water is a basic element in life; it cleanses and therefore initiates renewal. Renewal is the transformation of healing. Because water is ever changing and evolving, it is an active, living element, so we must respect water and welcome its healing powers into our lives.

A healing pendant connected with water may be a crystal, a symbol of water, or actual water itself. It may seem strange to think of actually wearing water around your neck in a pendant, but you can indeed do just that. A pendant made of glass and filled with water, especially water from a special place that makes is holy or blessed, is a pendant that is made to attract healing. When you wear a healing pendant you feel its presence on your physical being and this promotes your conscious awareness of your intention to attract healing into your life.

Heart Pendant

The heart shape is a universal symbol of love. The heart shape represents romantic love and perhaps this is the first kind of love you think of when you see a heart pendant necklace. However, hearts represent all kinds of love. A heart pendant can be worn as a reminder of spiritual love to foster a sense of steady peace in the world, a heart pendant can represent the love between friends or sisters. The power of a heart pendant is the love, no matter what kind of love it is intended to represent.

At Holy Secret Jewelry you can find a heart pendant that is enhanced with the power of words as well, for example, you can have the company write your wedding vows on a tiny scroll and include that with the heart pendant. The addition of special words with a heart pendant increases both the value and the meaning of the heart pendant necklace. Such a heart pendant necklace, enhanced with sterling silver connectors and a sterling silver chain, is the perfect wedding necklace because the clear, hand-blown glass of the heart shaped-pendant combined with the white-like color of the silver compliments the white gown of the bride and the purity of new love.

Pearl Pendant

A string of pearls is a classic piece of jewelry. A pearl pendant offers a unique alternative to this classic favorite by keeping with the simple beauty of the pearl and adding the elegance of precious metals. A solitary pearl mounted on white or yellow gold or sterling silver is astonishing. The singer pearl draws attention and makes you realize just how precious pearls are. Standing alone on its own platform as a single pendant gives the effect that it is on a pedestal. A woman who wears a pearl pendant is also on a pedestal displaying her own elegant beauty as the background to this classic jewelry.

Evil Eye Pendant

Apparently someone has produced evil eye jewelry recently because I saw a short clip on the news about it the other day. Honestly, I was appalled. The evil eye pendant is supposed to ward off any evil that might come your way and keep you safe. It’s an ancient symbol and is found in many different cultural traditions. Personally, I would never want an evil eye so close to my heart because the heart is where we keep our deepest and truest selves. Maybe the evil eye is powerful and will keep me safe as the myth says, but I would rather promote my safety by wearing pendants that attract positive energies and are gentle, beautiful, and powerful in positive ways. The idea that wearing an evil eye will keep evil away from me implies that I have to surround myself with evil: No! I prefer to surround myself with the power of good because that will overshadow the evil that lurks out in the world anyway. Yes, there is both good and bad in the world and I believe that we can attract either. A pendant that pulls the positive energies of the universe close to my heart is so much more meaningful and powerful than one that pushes away the bad.
